In 1989, The African Outlet started in the
smallest stall outside of Bamiko, on Divisadero
Street In San Francisco, California. After five
years of being able to service only three
people at a time in that space, we moved to
our present location in Hayes Valley.
We may be one of the best kept secrets in the
Nation; but through the efforts of the Sunday
San Francisco Examiner Magazine,  Evening
Magazine of Channel 5, select nieghborhood
newspapers and our ever widening customer
base, an awareness and appreciation of The
African Outlet has developed.
The African Outlet welcomes all who have the
love and interest in African cultures; the result
has been a fantastic family of many cultures.
We produce cultural events for community
organizations, schools, and official functions.
Our yearly entry in San Francisco's Carnaval is
always most colorful and culturally spirited.
Also, on any afternoon you may catch us in the
middle of a sidewalk barbeque, with music and
celebration. Please join us.
It is our pleasure to uncover the answer to any
of your needs for African items or information.
Welcome to The African Outlet!
